After reading and seeing the great results that other users on the Internet were having applying "makeup" to their Lombards (1999 PowerBook G3 Series), I decided to take the plunge and apply a little color to my computers as well. With these simple instructions, you too can impress your friends and strangers with your beautiful computer!
The "makeup" that we'll be using is actually a vinyl film. The best brands include 3M Scotchcal or Arlon Calon II. You can get it from your local sign shop.
Here's a before shot of my computers, lying out on my table. As you can see, I'll be coloring my PowerBook and Newton in a few moments.
The correct type of vinyl will not permanently harm your computer, nor will it permanently stick to the plastic. This affords great flexibility and creativity on your part. If you get tired of a particular color, put on a different coat! Express yourself however you feel!
To apply the vinyl, follow these instructions:
And you're done! The entire process should take about 30 minutes or less. Now, you've added some delectable colors to your computer!
