iMac

Rae's a Switcher with her new 17-inch iMac!

Rae's a Switcher! I helped her set up her new 17-inch iMac on Friday, loading it up with memory and software. It's a definite upgrade from her old and slow Dell computer. I think she's going to enjoy using it! Macs are just so much more visually appealing than PC's. They might not be the fastest computers out there, but they are the nicest to look at and use.

My theory is that if you're happier using the computer, you'll be more productive. What do you readers think about that? The vast majority of visitors here are running Windows. Would you rather be using a Mac?

Every time Apple releases new products especially notebooks, I go through massive periods of longing.

However I currently can't justify the cost. Certainly they are great products, generally well built and certainly better designed than PC products. OS X would be fun to use since I'm a UNIX person from way back.

Guess I'll go back to my Linux box now. :)

Recently I've made the switch to a 15" PB and aside from the one stuck pixel I've been very happy with Apple.

Lately, I've been having some serious issues with kernel32.dll errors and corrupted Internet Explorer. In my frustrations, I've seriously considered switching. Microsoft sucks!

mikazuko - any machine in a bad state does bad things. i've seen many macs out of commission because users do bad things. macs aren't as susceptible to viruses, but they can still be just as frustrating to use as a pc can. (my point is that what you are reporting is no reason to switch).

Lucky. I'm still trying to get my gf to make the switch. Damn MSN Messenger and its non-Mac compatible online games.

I think it does not really matter you choose MAC or PC, rather it matters that you keep your system under control and make it work for you and your needs.

Since I've been in NTAdmin business for years now, it is natural for me to use a PC. (And yes I keep it under control.) But I am well awared of the fact that GUI is boring. So I opted for MAC GUI.

Here is my desktop:

So, what do you think?

I tried going the XP route. But I think I still prefer my regular desktop. ;-p

I'm still agonizing over what to get. I love the look and space-saving factor of the 17" iMac, but I'm also considering a dual-chip G5 or the dual-chip, dual-boot quicksilver G4 that they're still selling. I'm even thinking about a new laptop. Ugh. I'm going to be doing a heck of a lot of data crunching with Pro Tools and Final Cut Pro. So I need speed. It's agony I tell ya.

Once you go Mac, you never go back...

:)

Rock on Apple.
